The first weekend in October is set aside for a special event that brings together people from all walks of life. The festival celebrates German culture with traditional food, drinks, music, games, and activities. This year’s theme is “Oktoberfest: A Celebration of Bavaria.” There will be plenty of beer on tap and delicious foods such as bratwurst sausages, pretzels, apple strudel, potato pancakes, and more. Guests can enjoy live entertainment by local bands including Keg & Case Band, Dixie Chicks, and others. And don't forget about the authentic German-style dancing at the dance floor.

This fall marks the return of Friday Nights at the fountain. On select dates throughout September and October, visitors have an opportunity to experience something new while visiting Virginia Beach. Each week features a different activity or attraction. For example, last month was Halloween Week where guests could trick or treat around town, visit haunted houses, and much more. In addition to these events, there will be free concerts featuring performances by artists like Sam Smith, Mark Ronson, and many more.

If you want to see movies without having to leave the comfort of your own backyard, then head over to the park located near the beachfront. You'll find several movie theaters offering everything from family friendly flicks to action packed thrillers. Some popular titles include "Avengers Endgame," "Toy Story 4", "Coco", "Spider-man: Far From Home", and so much more.

In Crystal City, you'll find a farmer's market every Saturday morning right outside of the mall. It offers fresh fruits and vegetables along with other locally grown products. Plus, if you happen to stop by between 10am – 2pm, you might even catch a farmers' market concert.

While you're out exploring the shops and restaurants in National Landing, keep an eye open for the gallery called "Water." Located inside the Gallery Underground, this space showcases work created by students at the University of North Carolina School Of Design. These pieces range from paintings to sculptures made using recycled materials. Visitors can learn more about each student artist through photos displayed alongside their creations.

For those who are interested in learning how to play chess, checkers, backgammon, scrabble, mahjong, poker, bingo, and more, Tinkergarten classes offer fun and educational opportunities. Held weekly during the summer months, participants ages 5 - 18 can attend lessons taught by certified instructors. Participants should bring their own board game and/or dice. Registration begins 1 hour before class time.
