Five Year Anniversary of the Wharf's Completion of Phase 1

In October 2022, the Wharf's development partnership, Hoffman-Madison Waterfront celebrated two important occasions. The Wharf celebrated the five year anniversary since it's grand opening, and substantial completion of the waterfront project extending from the Fish Market to Fort McNair. Since opening on October 12, 2017, the Wharf, has once again made DC a true waterfront city.

The Wharf is now home to 3.5 million square feet of prime residential and retail space, stunning architecture, and incredible culinary and entertainment options.

What you will fine at the Wharf now that progress is so far along:

• Four hotels, including Pendry Washington DC and InterContinental Washington DC

• Three condominium buildings and four apartment residences, making up 1,400 residences. Condos include the Amaris designed by Rafael Viñoly Architects

• Over a million square feet of Class-A office space, with businesses that include, The Atlantic, Freedom Forum, Fish & Richardson, Williams & Connolly, LLP.

• Rooftops, piers, and green spaces providing stunning views of the water, VA, and DC

• Over 85 dining and shopping options and three live music venues, one of them notably being the Anthem.
  

Retail locations are now 94% leased, and shopping and restaurant businesses are continuing to open on a rolling basis.

The Wharf is celebrating with 9 months of community events. Having become DC's top location for public events, the Wharf regularly holds over 100 events each year. This new schedule over the next 9 months is sure to be very impressive. On tap is to hold community experiences featuring DC artists and neighborhood favorites.

In attendance to the celebrations were, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), Monty Hoffman, Amer Hammour, the team from Hoffman-Madison Waterfront, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser. Bowser summed everything up nicely, saying, “Since we opened The Wharf five years ago, it has become a place for residents and visitors alike to come together, shop and dine out, and enjoy our city’s waterfront. Today, we’re celebrating even more jobs, housing, and opportunity for DC residents and businesses. And we’re celebrating Washington, DC as a world-class waterfront city.”
